Island Hopping in Galapagos Island or travel Galapagos Island by cruise? It is probably the most common question asked when planning Galapagos Island travel. Prior to starting my one year tour, I did some extensive study on different travel methods on these island. I did my travel to Galapagos Island in March 2016 for 10 days and my experiences may help you to decide if you will do a Cruise or Island hopping in Galapagos Island.
During our four months tour of South America, we arrived at the Capital of Peru, Lima, also known as the Gastronomic Capital of South America. We have been travelling on a budget for over two months now, but we have booked a restaurant, ranked fourth best in the world, before we have even left Australia. This restaurant is called Central Restaurante.
Going to Easter Island is dream for many, including myself, when we want to understand more about this fascinating ancient civilization and look at the mystical Moai statues. Today was our most perfect day in Antarctica Peninsula. Everything we did and saw today was enough to justify the ticket price to Antarctica. Upon wakening, we saw huge ice mountains surrounded us. The boat was sailing slowly towards Southern Gerlache Strait and our first location was Dorian Bay at Domay point.
This is the day that we are boarding Ocean Nova. We have used up 1/4 of our one year budget on this 10 day so I was quite naturally nervous about starting our journey. The most worrying part is that if our clothes will stand the cold of Antarctica since we couldn’t carry too much in our 8 Kg carry on luggage. After the notorious Drake Passage, I shall know if my 8 Kg packing gear article is useful or not.
After our first stop in Buenos Aires, we made our way down south towards Patagonia region to see Glaciar Perito Moreno. Our original plan was to bus down to El Calafate, however the total journey was going to take over 40 hours as the total distance was over 3000Km!
After one year’s worth of saving and preparation our world tour has finally began! Our First stop is a place known to be “Paris of South America”; it is also known as the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires. In this completely foreign country, I am very fortunate to have an old friend who grew up and lives here locally to take us around. Buenos Aires is really different to all other cities I have been to before, I will now share with you our little Buenos Aires adventure!
York and I have officially quit our job and will be travelling the world in less than a month’s time! That means we have to pack all our clothes for the year in a carry-on! Things would’ve been a lot easier if we didn’t book a “Last-Minute Antarctica Cruise” to our trip, now we have to pack for cold Antarctica weather as well as hot climate of the Amazons jungles. Below is a detailed packing list for long term travel and what we going to survive on for the next year.
This is a detailed 17 day Turkey and Greece itinerary I did for my trip in October 2015 with my parents. This summary includes the cost of accommodation, transport details of our trip excluding food for our people. I have wrote separate guides for all the cities we traveled to except for some.
